The Comptroller is responsible for maintaining the accounting and financial records of the Board of County Commissioners as well as joint administration of the County's $3.7 billion annual budget. The Comptroller is also responsible for preparing the County's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), which provides a historic record of annual results of operations for Orange County citizens and other interested parties.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Orange County for its CAFR for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2007. This Certificate of Achievement is a prestigious national award recognizing conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local governmental financial reports.
